Despair- a plague for our day?

I decided to chew on this topic instead of the bags of candy at my house....

I've been thinking so much about this topic. Probably because my uncle ( who was just a bishop and counseled with so many women) and Dad (also counsels with women through church) speak of it often. My Dad has been telling me how many women he speaks to suffer from utter despair. They feel like they don't measure up, both to other women, or to themselves, like they just can't do it "all". Why is it that we don't give the credit we give to other people to OURSELVES? I'm totally guilty of this.
I have definitely felt moments of despair, not long lasting, but moments. I remember feeling like I shouldn't even be a mom, like I am no good at it, that someone else could do a far better job, and that I just didn't want to do it anymore. I know people suffer with that same feeling when it comes to marriage, or just making good choices.  I can't imagine feeling that way constantly. I feel like it's a plague in our day.
Why is this? Was this always how it's been and women just haven't talked about it, or is life getting harder and harder? Are we comparing ourselves more than ever to the idea of "perfection", or is it because we just don't understand the atonement well enough? Or are we really too harsh- judging our fellow mothers/friends/coworkers.  Instead of uplifting, loving and embracing each persons individuals talents & goodness, driving them farther away from feeling good about themselves by not remembering that everyone has weaknesses.  Or am I way off on thinking that this is a problem at all?
Thoughts?

My baby's not a baby...

Yesterday we went to the temple to take some photos of Maddie to use for invites to her up coming baptism. My mom made her the dress, she's in love with it. She loves having her picture taken...when if was time to go, she kept saying, "let's take more!" I saved my faves for her invite... :) I'll post them later.
I just can't get over how fast time goes by. It seems like I held her in my arms the first time just yesterday. I remember later that night after she was born, everyone had left (it was a regular party in my room), and it was just she and I. I sat with her in my arms, looked into her face and couldn't help but let the tears stream down my face. She was perfect, her little fingers, and toes, bunches of dark hair, and a tiny delicate nose. That was only the beginning of this road called motherhood. Which is most of the time (for me) pretty trying intertwined with moments of joy, and beauty that make it all worth it.

It's...

It's a boy...

So much for my mothers intuition.  I'm really trying not to be sad.  And really it's not that I'm sad that it's a boy, just that it's not a girl (thanks Christine for that insight).
I do love boys...I was just so sure.  This is the first time I've felt so sad after finding out, maybe because it really never crossed my mind that it could actually be a boy.
Anyway, I'll be happy later I'm sure.
The end.

Disneyland

This was such a great trip.  It's probably the first "real" vacation we've taken with the kids that hasn't been with either of our extended families.  We started off in L.A. with my amazingly fantastical aunt Bonnie who let us stay with her.  It was so nice to have a home-base bigger than a hotel room.  We went to my favorite store ever- H&M (although I don't like that you can't buy anything online...grrr) and then hung with Bon Bon.  On Sunday night we went to this club in downtown Hollywood for Ramsey and Ashley's engagement party.  It was so nice to hang out with all of Jasper's fam.  They're so so so so great.  I just can't even tell you how blessed I feel to have such fab in laws.  They're all I could have hoped for...which I know is rare.  Monday we hung out with the fam some more.  Relish. Me, Mama-in-law & Ashley the fab

At the Par-tay

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday in magical kingdom.  The kids loved it.  It was very hot those days...the heat blew in just for us.  :(  Greg and Emily and their 3 kids met us at Disneyland, and Ashley spent all 3 days with us.  I highly recommend a 3rd adult with 4 small kids.  :)  Thanks Ash!  Then we drove to St. George and seriously did practically nothing.  It was pretty much heaven.  A great re-coup from the previous week.   We went swimming one day, and I ran into my SISTER there.  It was completely absolutely random.  Christine lives in Cedar City with her 5 kids.  She's pretty much the mom of the world.  WISE.  If you ever need good, non-biased advice, she's your girl.  It was just so crazy that we ended up at the very same swimming pool together.  She didn't even know we were in St. George.  Isn't that so freaky?  Love to you Christine.  You look amAzing by the way.
Anyway...here's a few pics.  I wasn't very good at taking photos at Disneyland...I couldn't quite bring myself to bring out the beast of a camera too often.  Oh well...

Cooling off...notice T's head all the way in the fountain...

Watching the Pixar Parade:  Tan's fave.

Tae's latest loves of expression
Greg & Emily's kids...and ours too.  Minus Maddie.

P.S. I find out if we're having a boy or a girl on FRIDAY! Give me some girl vibes please.

A shout out to my Jay

Jay had his 6th birthday while we were on vay cay.  We were in St. George at a great condo that overlooked much of the city.  We made him a cake and then realized that we had no candles, so Emily and I were extreme-o creative and came up with these beauties. We used these Pepperidge Farms chocolate stick things (can't remember the name, but I KNOW my Mom knows), they are soft in the middle, and then stuck matches inside of them.  It actually worked quite well.  :)

Jaren in a nutshell:
He is so kind, he remembers everything (dangerously), he is a peacemaker- this I knew from the moment he was born, generous, thoughtful, an observer, sometimes a push-over, always puts others before himself, rarely if ever gets in trouble, smart, smart, smart.  I love you so so much Jaren, I can't even explain how much I knew what kind of a child he would be when I very first held him in my arms, this hasn't happened with my others.  I just kept thinking, he has a heart of gold.  I had no idea how right I would be.  He holds the door open for me everywhere we go, he always makes sure I'm ok.  He'll make such a fabulous husband.  Start lining up grilies.  Actually, don't...that's too sad to think about.
Happy 6th Jaren!!

And I'm back....to normal life

We just got back from the most FABULOUS trip to Disneyland, an engagement party for Jasper's brother in downtown Hollywood, and a few days in a condo with friends in St. George...it was so so good to get away.  I'll post pics extremely soon....as for now, I'm unpacking, cleaning, washing and maybe I'll even put on a bra.

The witch and the clown

Tanner just came across this picture and said:

"look! Mom's a witch and Dad's a circus clown" Now, I can understand the clown comment, however, the witch part...a little harsh.  :)  What would I do with out children to keep me in line?

disgusting

It is after 9 at night.  Kids go to bed at 8 sharp.  T gets up and enter bathroom about 9 pm, I enter bathroom at about 9:05.  What do I see?  Poop.  Poop on the floor, poop on the mirror, poop on the shower curtain, poop COVERING the ENTIRE toilet seat.  Poop all over the sink, and of course all down the back of my crying son.  He hasn't felt 100%, therefore I had sympathy.  But truly- it was disgusting.  In the shower he went as I sprayed down the entire bathroom.  Isn't it so gross the things we have to clean?  I'm so glad I was in a good mood tonight, I actually laughed as I cleaned up.

Just had to share such a disgusting event in my life.  Thank me for not taking pictures this time.  :)

Might I take a moment to tell you how much I love love love these children! They truly bring light, life, joy, pain, frustration, laughs, cries, guilt, and much much pleasure into the core of my very heart. I wouldn't trade them or this experience for anything!
