I'm torn. Normally, I'd always pick the colors in the second one, but the first one pops more and pulls out some colors in the wood floor, and I like things that pop. So, I'd say #1.
I love the blue & green one! But then again you have seen my front room...and those colors are just more me than the warmer, red one. But yeah, I do love the blue one the mostest.
Ok, I looked again, because it is really close in my mind. The blue and green give the room and calm and relaxing feel, so I guess it depends on what you want the room to feel like. Energetic or calm.
I guess I'm the odd-one out because I like the first one. But if you look at my house it's almost all done in warm colors. I love the splashes of red. :-)
funny... i'm considering the same carpets for our great room! it's fun to see them in another house! i'm usually drawn to the colors in the second one, but i kind of like the way the first one plays off of everything else in the room. i'm curious to see what you end up with! what great taste you have!
world market.. is it from world market? http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3806372
it looks a lot brighter on their site than in your pictures. did you think that when you got it? sorry i have so many questions! i've been rug shopping for the last few weeks. the first rug seems a lot thicker and i wonder if it would wear better than the second.
Same but different coloring, and World Market doesn't have the bigger size I got. :) It's an indoor/outdoor but seems pretty durable. But the Target one is definitely higher quality!
I am ALL about the first one. I love the tones in the second rug (although I am a huge orange/red fan...more than blue), but the first rug not only makes the room come alive, in my opinion it balances it out better, too. It "grounds" it, so to speak.
I would totally go with numero uno!! (PS Makes me want to get a new rug...)
I vote for the SECOND one.. It's really pretty. and the first one is exciting but is so big and wild I think it is too overpowering. And might make you feel ummm...confused or out of wack...
HI, I know you don't know me, but I enjoy following your blog and seeing your great photography. I like both the rugs, but I think the 2nd one is out of scale and needs to be bigger. If you went with the first one, pull your couches and furniture closer together so they are all anchored by the rug and so it doesn't look like it's floating in the room. The 2nd shows too much floor. They both are beautiful though!
I TOTALLY love the first one!!! It's GLORIOUS. I think I just fell in love. Are people allowed to marry carpets in the US, yet? Since this is a "free" country and all, I'd think so.. I'd vote yes for that one. ;)
They're both gorgeous carpets, but the second one definately looks better in your livingroom. I agree with your mom about the first one, how it could make you feel "out of whack."
I like the first one. Maybe the second looks cooler in person but the first one is really great & happy, the second is more calm...I wonder what the room would look like if you turned the rug on the same angle as the fireplace and then moved the couches in an L shape on the opposite side of the room or to face eachother with the coffee table between and the table against the wall behind one of the sofas, to make the fire place the focal point... looks like fun! Good luck - you're an artist, I'm sure whatever you do will look PERFECT!!
Love the idea Rebecca, but there is next to no room in that space. You can't see the giant piano in the bottom of the photo. Very very small space, otherwise I totally would do that! :)
k im no help because i focus on one and think "ok this one! this is the better one" than i look at the other and think "no this one actually." back and forth. they're both fetching cute!
I like the second one because it brightens up the room. I think the big one is a little too big and puts too much dark brown in the room, with the couches. The light one pulls the pretty color of the wall too.
I'm almost always for the calm, toned down kind of stuff, but I love the first one. I can't decide if I like the colors as well with your stuff compared to the secone one, but it's beautiful!
I like the size of the first one but my vote would 100% be for #2. Plus, even if you do have to buy a few more things for the second rug could it still wind up costing you less than the first rug??
Wow..you got 32 comments, I don't even think I know that many people. so you probably don't need my advice. I would say #1.. I love the colors and if you don't have to change curtains (they r expensive) then you should get the more expensive one...I love the colors!
Wow, it's crazy how people can have such strong, different opinions!! I also like them both!! Again, it just depends on how you want the room to feel. Light and calm, or warm and vibrant. Both are great! :) I think I'd choose the first one, because I really like rich colors, but they're both really nice. :)
Personally I like the second one BUT the fact that the first one already looks great in the room is a big plus. How much is the second rug once you add in the cost of adding blue stuff?
Also, I think your room looks amazing. Just looking at all the breakable stuff in there makes me want to go have a breather in the bathroom. How often do your knicknacks get broken?
Bigger and bolder...numero uno definitely. I love it, plus if you're having to buy things to go with the second won't that headache and price just make the first one that much simpler to go with? I don't know but I LOVE the first.

Out of the mouths of babes
5/11 Tae: "My dad is bigger than my mom and my mom is mini-er than my dad"
5/11 Tae: "Don't coffee me!!!" she and paige seem to think the word for copy is actually coffee.
05/11 Tae: After going in the front yard after me telling her not to.. " oh mom, I accidentally thought the front was the back"
03/09: Maddie: " Why do we have to pay taxes? Why do they have to have laws...like pay your taxes? Or don't stand on swivel chairs?" Ha ha!!
12/08: Tanner: "mom, don't pick your nose and throw it on the ground or you will slip on it like a banana peel. So you have to put it on a picture, or a high shelf"
Tae 3/09: Today she was looking for little scab on her hand and noticed it was gone. So she said "Mom, my owie went home!"
2/09 Maddie: Kimi is eating a burger, Mad hates red meat. "Mmmm, that looks good" Me: "But you don't even like hamburgers!" Maddie: "But if it were the only food left on earth, I'd pound it."
12/08 Tanner: "Mom, when can we get out our bean stocks?" I realized he was talking about Christmas Stockings. :)
11/08 I'm in the bathroom, alone. But never really alone. Maddie comes to the door and says "mom what was your best moment?" Uh, can we talk about this later?
11/08 Tanner: "Mom, is my bones warm or hot?" later that day..."I wish our house was made of nachos." Ya, me too.
10/08 Me" Well Maddie when I was little I only got a quarter or 50 cents for a tooth" Maddie" Ya, well that was in the OLDEN DAYS mom! The tooth fairy hardly had any money then."
9/08 Tan:" Mom, when you have the new baby, will we sell Taelyn?"
01/08 Maddie: "Guess what Mom, when I lose my front tooth the tooth fairy brings me $20" What?? Who said that? "A girl in my class! I'm so excited to get my very own $20!"
10/07 Madeline: "Mom I remember what it was like to live with Jesus before I was born" Oh really? "Ya, it looked just like it does here, but it was on clouds."
09/07 Tanner: "Mom sometimes your mean to me, but Sister Castleberry (nursery teacher) is always nice to me...like this many times ( he holds up his little 5 fingers right in my face)" How cute is he??
Just the other day Madeline came to me after practicing some intricate dance moves with Jaren and said "Mom, I just wish I could marry Jaren because he dances with me, he does whatever I say, and he's such a gooood guy. Why can't I marry my brother? " I then explained just why we don't marry our siblings. Hopefully she'll have no problem finding a guy just like Jaren in 20 years.
"Shake your bootie, shake your bootie..." This goes along with a mooning of sorts by the 3 yr. old Tanner
“Do you wish you were Dad so you wouldn’t have to change Taelyn’s diaper or do all the work, and you could be at church on time?” -Maddie
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

P.S. Where did your piano go???

Joy...that is the dilemma!!! I like them both!
mer, the piano is to the right...can't see it in these pics.
I guess I'm the odd-one out because I like the first one. But if you look at my house it's almost all done in warm colors. I love the splashes of red. :-)
I think you should keep both of them and just rotate every week - according to your mood. :-)
You know I love them both, and they are even more impressive in person.

where's the second one from? i know i've seen it and i thought it was at target, but now i can't find it.

I like the second one.

Second one
I have the first one and love it. But for the first year it sheds soooo bad. But not that bad anymore. And dont dare drop a cheese stick on it!
numero uno!! :) love it!
I definitely love the second one. Just seems calmer - more relaxing, and like the more toned down colors.
#2 FOR SURE!!! I love it so much. It just fits.

To sum up.. I'm for the first one, 100%!
They're both gorgeous carpets, but the second one definately looks better in your livingroom. I agree with your mom about the first one, how it could make you feel "out of whack."

They are both cute - but I pick #2 - very calming and makes your furniture pop more - good luck :)

Here's my 2 cents:
I like the size of the first one but my vote would 100% be for #2. Plus, even if you do have to buy a few more things for the second rug could it still wind up costing you less than the first rug??
I love the second - but for the room I have to vote #1 - that looks AMAZING!!!!!!
Matt & I agree - #2 (but both are really cute)
My vote is for the second one. But I'm drawn to more calm (which usually means boring) colors, and you and your house can totally pull off the bold!
Wow..you got 32 comments, I don't even think I know that many people. so you probably don't need my advice. I would say #1.. I love the colors and if you don't have to change curtains (they r expensive) then you should get the more expensive one...I love the colors!
Definately say #1. I love It! Miss you lady:) Misses. Mwah!
I vote for #1!

Seriously 37 comments? Who do you think you are?
Bigger and $$ is what I like.
Ummm, yeah, what are you, famous?? Hey, I like having a famous daughter!
Bigger and bolder...numero uno definitely. I love it, plus if you're having to buy things to go with the second won't that headache and price just make the first one that much simpler to go with? I don't know but I LOVE the first.
But then again, I'd love to have flowered rugs or flowered anything in my house time to time....it's the one no negotiable around here....
what did you decide?
I love the big one :)
